I'm not shocked Horc was dealt, I am shocked that we didn't have to take a bad contract back or at least keep some salary.

As for Larsen I read good things about his puck moving. We had an issue with this last year so maybe he can help.

Either way good luck Horc and thank-you Jim Nill.

Good luck with him. Contrary to popular belief, he's not that bad a player. Chances are when he's 36 he'll be looking for a cheapish contract. He's already got paid after all. Maybe when you guys start to challenge he'll be a craig adams style warrior for you.

Thanks for Larsen!

Hopefully Horcoff stays healthy and provides a couple of years decent productivity while some of the Stars prospects develop and become NHL ready.

Don't expect a lot from Larsen at this point. I know Defenseman can develop slowly but he has really fallen down the Stars depth chart and even with the bad blue line the Stars had last year was a healthy scratch quite often. He seems like a good kid and I hope he is able to improve with the Oilers.

I think Larsen is probably more of what we already have except younger and cheaper. We'll see where he ends up this year. He signed his first contract 4 years ago and he's only played 96 games so if I understand the waiver rules correctly he could be assigned to OKC and called up later without having to pass re-entry waivers. But this is the last year that that's true.

While not doing much offensively the last few years, Horcoff has good size, experience killing penalties and is pretty good in the faceoff circle.

He played some PP too
Take the draw, then go stand in front of the net.

One of the most interesting stats I saw from last season;
at Even Strength, Horcoff was on the ice for 19 GF and only 11 GA.
That GF ratio of 63% [19 out of 40] was 36th best in the league of forwards who played 10 or more games and at least 10 ES minutes per game.
Thats out of 343 forwards.

As I type this, the Oilers are now a weaker team.
We'll see what the day brings.

Agreed. People see Horcoff whiff on shots, and don't realize that while his hands aren't great, his offensive awareness is quite good.

He can skate well and gets himself into good positions.

And of course he has been our best shutdown centre for quite some time now.

Poor Seguin... Claiming his steers and queers comments on twitter were due to his account being hacked... That kid has to cleanup the people he hangs out with otherwise there will be constant media circus that teams don't need ESP if losing....
